Earliest
Ojai Museum records indicate the Ojai Valley
Directory was originally published as the Ojai City Directory in 1926
by the Los Angeles Directory Company. Its motto was, ‘More goods are
bought and sold through the classified business lists of the Directory than
any other medium on Earth.’
In the ensuing 78 years, at least insofar as it applies to the Ojai
Valley, that motto has been consistently true. The Directory still does
more business in the Valley than any other medium on Earth.
As the major local telephone directory, in print and online, the Ojai
Valley Directory offers a choice to the public and our advertisers that
reflects the community we serve. These differences include a custom-designed
cover, uncluttered with ads, that changes every year and often features
the work of local artists. The cover of the 2004-2005 edition features
a collage of the pets of Ojai as submitted by their owners, with hundreds
more pet photos used as filler in the full color, yellow page section.
The Directory also offers complete white-page
listings in a larger, more readable type font, yellow
pages contains the advertising of nearly 1,000 local businesses, in
full color, 38 menus from Ojai
restaurants, and 220 coupons
from local businesses.
The Directory is also the only online site for the Ojai
Valley Visitors Guide.
In addition, we provide an extensive and comprehensive community
section featuring information about local government
offices, community events, schools,
transportation,
maps, local
non-profit organizations, a care
givers guide, restaurant
menus and a complete medical
guide to the Valley.
We are personally committed to the community we serve by participating
as a board member of the Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce, a sponsor of
the Ojai Valley’s promotional website, visitojai.com,
actively support the Ojai
Valley Youth Foundation, the Ojai
Valley Land Conservancy, the Ojai Community Hospital Foundation, the
Ojai Film Festival,
the Ojai Music
Festival, the Ojai Performing Arts Theater, and the Humane
Society of Ventura County - Ojai office, among many others.
